*Refurbished Royal Quiet Deluxe Portable Manual Typewriter - Black and Gray
Typewriters Matter and Henry Dreyfus must have thought so too. Designer Henry Dreyfus filed the patent on his new typewriter design of the Royal Quiet Deluxe in 1945 in which he referred to his new design as “a new, original, and ornamental design for typewriting machine".
And because typewriters matter to us, we've taken our time to not only refurbish it and make sure it's working as it was made to, but we've added some small touches that make the machine shine even more.
Here is a sampling of what has been done to this machine:
Platen has been resurfaced and cleaned
Type segment has been cleaned with solvent
Mechanics have been cleaned with solvent
Type slugs have been cleaned with solvent
Adjusted ring & cylinder for better type impression
NEW rubber feet have been installed
Machine has been properly lubricated
Magic Margin has been cleaned and thoroughly lubricated and tested
Bell has been cleaned and lubricated (and tested)
Outer shell has been removed from machine and cleaned
Shift has been adjusted
Feed rollers have been removed and cleaned
Type alignment has been checked
Red/Black Ribbon Selector has been tested
CAPS Lock has been tested
Backspace and tabulator have been tested
Line spacing has been tested
Linelock has been tested
Variable linespace has been tested
Ribbon reverse has been tested
A new ribbon has been installed
Carrying case has been cleaned and hinges lubricated
I love the two tone color of this Royal QDL that was manufactured right after WW2. It's been loved for generations by writers, students, and collectors.
Comes thoroughly tested with a fresh ribbon installed along with the original case.
